Please can you take part in my music questionnaire, as it will help me to identify my target audience which I will be basing my music magazine upon and also help me find things that I will need to consider including when creating my own magazine.
Laura Mulvey is a British feminist film theorist who worked at the British Film Institute for many years. She states that Hollywood cinema and production puts the spectator in a masculine subject position, with the figure of a women on the screen as the object of desire and "The Male Gaze".
She said, "Women, then stands in patriarchal culture as a signifier for the male other, bound by a symbolic order in which man can live our he fantasies and obsessions through linguistic command, by imposing them on the silent image of woman still tied to her place as bearer of meaning not maker of meaning."
What she said is an example of objectification of the female characters in relation to this controlling (male) gaze and narcissistic identification with an ideal image on the screen
The Music Video to Miley Cyrus' song 'Wrecking Ball' is a very good example to the theory of the male gaze!
The Music Video includes explicit shots of the artist and also portrays the her in a bold way revealing more than what is expected, because of her past with Disney! To conclusion because of these reasons, this video supports the idea of the male gaze and the ideal image on the screen.
This Music Video is a new realise by Biffy Clyro called 'Opposites'. The reason I have chose this video is because I like the different angles that the video is filmed in and also the techniques and effects that have been edited into it.
The film Batman The Dark Night was shown in cinemas back in 2008 and even though technology has changed massively since then this trailer is still one of my favourites, the reason for this is because it shows very small clips of the film which include action and violence and also the jokers voice is played in the background which gives it a spooky effect.
The reason I like this video game Farcry 3 is because there is lots of action and adventure as shown in this trailer also in this trailer you can see that the graphics are almost real life which makes the game more enjoyable to play as it makes it more like a real life situation.
The website that I use most has to be www.youtube.com the reason for this is that you can find almost anything video related on there from the comedy gamer channels such as KSIOlajidebt to the news channels such as BBCWorldNewsWatch
Hi, my name is Callum Birchall and I am 16 years old from Liverpool and this is my Media Blog. I am currently in the year 12 in the first year of sixth studying Business Studies, ICT Cambridge, Media Studies and photography.
Media has always stood out to me as an interesting subject to take, not just for the obvious with it being around us all in society but because the faculty have received outstanding results in the past and I have heard that it is a really interesting course to participate in. Also the lessons that I will learn will really help me in the future with whatever I go into.
However taking media was a big decision for me! Throughout my GCSEs I was adamant that I was going to go to Southport College to do a Level 3 Engineering Course which would lead me onto being what I wanted to be an architect. But as everybody knows times change but in my case it changed in the very last minute were I decided to stay on at Deyes Sixth Form. The reason why it was a big decision was if I wanted to still be an architect I would have to take Maths and Physics and they wouldn't fit into my option blocks and the only one that really interested me was Media so I went ahead with my instincts and here I am now studying A level Media.
Because of my indecisive mind I couldn't possibly tell you what I want to be in future but I would love to see if I can still be an architect. But if all else fails I would carry on in education studying along the lines of Media into something like Film Production or Journalism.
